The Mountain View Café is open to the public every day, including holidays, all year long. In addition to enjoying a relaxing meal in the cafeteria, we provide other options so that you can eat with your friend or family member who is a patient. Hot meals are prepared for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a continental breakfast is available between breakfast and lunch.

Cafeteria Hours

The Mountain View Café is open from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, but please be aware that it is closed for a short time twice each day.

Hot and Cold Breakfast:      6:30 am - 8:00 am

Continental Breakfast:         8:00 am - 10:30 am

Lunch:                               11:30 am - 1:15 pm

Dinner:                              5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Snack and Drinks:              6:30 am - 6:00 pm (except when closed)

Cafeteria Closed:               11:00 - 11:30 am and 4:15 - 5:00 pm

Take-Out

We understand that you may prefer to share meal time with your friend or loved one who is a patient at McDowell Hospital. We provide two choices for those who would like to eat in the patient’s room:

• Order food for take-out from the cafeteria
• Order a guest tray to be served with the patient’s meal tray

Please see your attending nurse to order a guest tray. They come with the patient tray and must be paid for at the time of delivery.

Patient Meal Schedule

Patient meals are served during the following time frames, however if a test or treatment is scheduled, meals may be delayed:

Breakfast             7:45 am – 8:15 am

Lunch                  11:50 am – 12:20 pm

Dinner                  4:50 pm – 5:20 pm

Patients in McDowell Hospital receive a menu with their lunch tray and use that to order meals for the next day. Please be sure to choose your meals and have the menu ready for pick-up when empty trays are collected. Don’t worry about special dietary needs. If your doctor prescribed a special diet, the menus you receive will be tailor-made for your needs. If you have any questions, or have difficulty making menu selections, a member of Nutritional Services will be glad to help.

Vending Machines

A vending room always open to visitors is located just off the main lobby. Vending machines are also available outside the main doors of the Emergency Department.

The menu for each week is updated and posted online every Thursday afternoon.
