In 2007, I joined The McDowell Hospital as the new President and CEO. I am very happy to have chosen McDowell County as my home. My wife Karen, my son Caleb and I have truly experienced a warm, Southern-hospitality welcome. Since my arrival, we have begun additional changes and have established some long-term goals. The Old Fort Medical Clinic closed and the three physicians (Doctors Turnbull, Albritton and Bryan) moved their practice into the Health Plus clinic adjacent to the hospital. Dr. David deHoll, urologist, has joined our staff, maintaining offices in both Marion and Spruce Pine. Additionally, we have contracted to bring new technology to the hospital for patients with kidney stones, including lithotripsy, laser technology and radiation seed implants. I have been successful in recruiting Dr. William Horan, a new general surgeon, to the community. We also have two new pediatricians on board, Dr. Christopher Rowland and Dr. Leigh Meeks, and our new Pediatrics practice located at 387 US 70 West in Marion is now complete. We are pleased to have Dr. Neal Ginn and Dr. Andrea Moore on board, who have recently opened McDowell OB/GYN, currently located on the 2nd floor of the hospital based at the south nursing station.
A look to the future will focus on positioning The McDowell Hospital as the healthcare choice for McDowell County residents, upgrading our facilities with new, advanced technology as well as enhancing our health and wellness outreach programs to maintain a healthy McDowell County.
The McDowell Hospital proudly accepts its role as the community’s provider of healthcare services to all who come to our facility. Our working relationship with physicians in our community and Mission Health System, Inc., will continue to improve our services and ability to serve residents and visitors to our community.
Thank you for allowing us to care for you!
Mr. Edward J. Hannon
President and CEO
