McDowell Hospital…Built By the Community, For the Community
These words carry weight because they’re backed by action. We are dedicated to providing services outside the hospital that assist members of the community. Sometimes our efforts are highly visible, such as when we host health fairs or partner with other organizations to plan and develop community activities. However, we’re also involved in other vital ways that are not well known.
Charitable Services
McDowell Hospital provides charitable services to the community that range from treating charity, Medicare and Medicaid patients to health profession education and contributions to community groups. We invite you to follow this link to view the McDowell Hospital Community Benefit Report for 2010, which provides an itemization of our contributions.
For the Community
We would like to take this opportunity to share some of the organizations that McDowell Hospital is involved in, and that physicians and staff members volunteer their time to help:
4-H Programs
American Cancer Society
Chamber of Commerce
Good Samaritan Clinic
Habitat for Humanity
Hospice of McDowell County
Lighten Up 4 Life
Make a Wish Foundation
McDowell Arts Council Association
McDowell County EMS and Rescue Squad
McDowell Trails Association
Project Christmas
Relay for Life
Rotary Activities
United Way of McDowell
YMCA’s CHLI Program
One advantage of being a “community hospital” is that we thrive as an integral part of the community. Our promise to create, and participate in, services that extend beyond our campus is easy to keep because our physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators and staff are your neighbors, family and friends. Together we’re honored to give our time and resources to benefit the McDowell Community.
